OVERVIEW

Chicago Segway tours are another great way to see the sights around the Windy City, in addition to our Chicago Walking Tours

You’ve likely seen lines of single file segways weaving through the city. Segway tours make it easy to cover a lot of ground in Chicago in a short amount of time without getting exhausted.

There are a few different companies providing this service in the windy city, and we’ll be giving a brief description of how much they cost and everything included with each segway tour below.

This post will cover both day and night tours, allowing you to choose when and where you want to see the city with ease!

Rules and Requirements

Segway tours are only available to guests over the age of 12, and it is required to wear a helmet at all times. In addition to these provisions, nighttime riders must also wear reflective vests for their protection.

Segway riders need to be over 100 lbs but not more than 250 lbs for the device to function properly.

Anyone with health or balance issues should consider another type of tour.

Although most companies will accept walk-up customers, it is usually a much better idea to book in advance to avoid missing out on the segway tour of your choice.

Are tips expected for Segway tours?

Although tipping is not required, it is certainly appreciated. A 15-20% tip is normal for the if the tour was good.

But if the tour was not up to your expectations, you also don't need to leave a tip.

Can you wear a backpack on a Segway?

Yes, if you need to carry something then you can use a backpack or a cargo holder.

How should I dress for a Segway tour?

In the footwear, flat, closed-toed shoes are highly recommended which will help you better maintain balance on the Segway. And in clothes, anything except loose, dangling clothes which may entangle.

DEALS AND DISCOUNTS

In this section, we will cover some of the best ways to save money on Chicago segway tours, including information about tourist passes and combo packages.

Tourist Passes

There aren't currently any segway tours offered with the various tourist passes in Chicago.

That said, this has been a common service offered by Chicago discount pass companies in the past, so chances are they will provide a discounted segway tour again at some point.

Even if these tourist pass services aren't offering Chicago segway tours at the moment, you can still use them to save money on almost every other activity you might want to enjoy in the windy city!

One of the nice things about this and other passes is that they also include admission to several sites which you’ll see on your Chicago segway tour, as well as other tours or attractions you may enjoy.

Here are a few examples:

For additional information about how to use these services and how much money you can save, please read our post covering Chicago tourist passes.

Combo Packages

Combo deals could be a great alternative to tourist passes because they allow you to save some money on just 2-3 attractions or tours.

There is currently only one combo ticket provided by Fat Tire Tours, and it includes both their daily segway tour and a ticket to the Chicago Skydeck!

NOTE: This combo deal isn't currently available as of March 2024.

Discount Sites

This is another great way to save money on Chicago segway tours, as websites and apps such as Groupon and LivingSocial both often provide decent deals on these types of services.

In addition to any savings you may enjoy just by using these discount sites, they also frequently provide extra coupon codes for 10% - 20% off local activities.

Before you make any purchases, check both the top and bottom of the page for any banners which may include coupons you can use for an additional discount.
