The Weather in London in February

HOW COLD IS LONDON IN FEBRUARY?

February tends to be a bit cold in London, however, not as cold as many other cities in Northern Europe.

Afternoon high temperatures tend to be in the mid-40s F (7-8 C) early in February warming to the upper 40s F to near 50 F (9-10 C) by the end of the month.

On a couple of the warmer afternoons, daytime temperatures can reach into the mid-50s F (12-14 C) or higher.

Late night and early morning low temperatures tend to average in the upper 30s F to near 40 F (3-5 C).

However, a few of the colder mornings can dip down to the lower 30s F (0 to -1 C) or less.


HOW MUCH SUN, RAIN, AND SNOW

On average, about 10 days this month with see clear or at least partly sunny skies while about 18 days will be cloudy or mostly cloudy.

Rain or snow falls on about 15-16 days this month, however, only about 6-7 days record at least 1 mm (0.04 inches) of precipitation.

Daylight hours increase quickly this month from just over 9 hours on February 1st to almost 11 hours by the 28th.

London during February can be a bit windy with wind speeds ranging mostly between 7 mph and about 17 mph (11-27 kph) but can exceed 20-25 mph (32-40 kph) at times.


DOES IT SNOW IN LONDON IN FEBRUARY?

Of the 16 days where some precipitation occurs, about 3 days on average will see some snow.

Snow is more likely early in the month than towards the end of the month.

WHAT TO WEAR IN FEBRUARY?

It is best to dress in layers during the winter months in London and a winter coat a must for the colder and windier days.

Don’t forget a good pair of walking shoes and an umbrella for the frequent wet days and you should also be prepared for the possibility of some snow.
