About Us

Free Tours by Foot - New York is a group of young (and young at heart), fun loving guides who have come together for a common cause: To teach history and entertain guests with creative tours of NYC.  To contact us, there are three options.  The first and most reliable is to email us at info@nycbyfoot.com.  The second, and equally as reliable option, is to text (sms) or call us at 646.450.6831.

We offer free tours for one very important reason, so that everyone can enjoy a fun, creative and educational walking tour experience at a really great price: FREE.  We work exclusively for gratuities, which means, if you don't like the tour, all you lost was your time.  We guarantee your satisfaction.  We are so hip, we know you will tip.

Meet the Crew:

From his earliest memories of a giant inflatable King Kong scaling the mighty Empire State Building, Steve has been a victim of the seductive pull of and excitement that is New York City. Though admittedly born a Jersey Boy, Steve is a New Yorker at heart. Steve is a graduate of history from Rutgers University and International Affairs from Kassel University in Kassel, Germany. He's been around the world and has taken the long way home. He's been professionally leading tours of New York for five years. When not leading tours, Steve can be found searching for German tourists to wow (or confuse) them with his German language mastery!

Curious about the events in one’s life and the impact they have — sometimes for several generations — is what brings Renee to work as a tour guide. Everyone has a story, what they do with it and about it is what creates the world around us. Renee finds that intriguing, exciting, and ...curious. Will the stories about the inhabitants of New York City change the way you view your world? A writer, editor and storyteller, Renee has a desire to assist others to be curious about the world around them.  Check out her Greenwich Village food blog.

Born and bred in Brooklyn, Courtney is consummate New Yorker.  At age 7, she was published in the New York Post about the terrible East River pollution.  Her former lives include stints as a non-profit lawyer and public school teacher.  Her hobbies include collecting passport stamps, discovering new foods both here and abroad, and learning everything there is to know about her beloved New York City.

Derrick a dedicated tour guide for more than a year, follows one motto for tours: Few people really dislike history, it is merely the way it's presented to you. Using his background of performing and writing with his quick wit and general freewheeling personality Derrick mixes in a bit of history, cultural insight, pop culture references and charm to his tours. Derrick would like to remind all people to ask any questions that come to mind because, closed mouths don't get fed. Especially in a city where they eat a hot dog while talking on a cell phone while also weaving through congested traffic without missing a beat.
