Free Chinatown Food Tour
It is the largest Chinese community in the Western Hemisphere and Manhattan's only growing ethnic neighborhood, with residents from all parts of Asia. It is also one of the city's densest, with hundreds of restaurants, tea houses, bakeries and street vendors all within a roughly 50 block area. With hundreds of food options, from pushcart vendors to dim sum palaces, from Cantonese to Vietnamese cuisines, Chinatown has overwhelming possibilities for noshing.
Join Free Tours by Foot as we head to Chinatown to sample tasty fried dumplings, tapioca bubble tea, taro-filled sticky buns, candied crabs and much more. We have designed this tour to provide visitors with excellent insight into the neighborhood's culinary possibilities. Take a pan-Asian culinary and cultural journey without leaving Manhattan.
Some of the foods we sample on the tour:
- roast pork buns and steamed lotus paste buns
- spicy cumin lamb burgers
- savory hand pulled noodles and Tiger salad
- fried pork and chive dumplings
- bubble tea and herb-jelly fruit juices
At every stop, you choose what treats you would like to taste. Try them all or none at all (don't forget, this is also a history and culture tour). Unlike other tours that charge around $45, with some excluding food. On this tour, YOU choose what to eat and how much to spend. Suggested amount to bring for snacks is $7-10, depending on your appetite! Vegetarian options available at several shops.
