Twilight on the Thames (Summer)
Summer nights in London are warm, fresh and beautiful – providing the perfect backdrop for a stroll along the River Thames. The tours begin shortly before sunset which means you can see London come alive as the lights of the city flicker on during your walk. Once you’ve seen the city by day, wrap up your day out with a fabulous trip along the river to take in the most stunning skylines you’ve ever seen.

Enjoy a relaxing trip along the River Thames, sipping champagne and eating tasty canapes as London’s lights pass you by. Jazz music and modern favourites are played by a live performer as you travel throughout London – from the bright lights of Big Ben all the way to Canary Wharf…and back again.

There are several companies offering night bus tours. Some of these night tours are included for free with the purchase of a 24 or 48 hour ticket or part of a tourist attraction discount card, such as the London Pass, so be sure to check before purchasing. Also, if you are in London at the peak of the summer, keep in mind that much of the tour will be in daylight and twilight as opposed to nighttime.
Big Bus offers a nightly hop-on, hop-off bus tour. The buses depart from Westminster Bridge at 7:30 pm, 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm. The first two buses are hop-on, hop-off and you can join the tour at any of the tours’ 11 stops. You can download the stop schedule and map on their night tour page. The 8:30 bus is a full circuit. If you stay on the entire time, the full circuit is just over one hour long. Big Bus is a well reviewed bus tour operator.

Like Big Bus’s 8:30 pm tour, Golden Tours offers a nightly open-top, double-decker night tour. You can’t hop-on and hop-off and the circuit takes 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete. Tours depart at 7 pm and 8 pm daily.

A very unique night tour that combines a traditional ghost stories tour with state of the art ghost hunting technology. The tour lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes. Tour takes place Wednesdays through Sundays at 3 pm, 6 pm and 9 pm. Tour is not recommended for children under 12 due to the content. Some of the sights that will be investigated include Westminster Palace, Buckingham Palace, London Bridge and Kensington Palace.
